Question 1:
I signed up but never received a welcome e-mail with my password?
Answer: If you provided a
valid e-mail address but never received a welcome e-mail containing your User
ID and Password, then your service provider's e-mail filter (or corporate
network's e-mail filter) probably blocked the incoming welcome e-mail
erroneously, thinking that it is unsolicited junk e-mail (spam) or sent it to
your Spam/Junk Mail folder. The first place to look would be in your Spam/Junk
Mail folder. If you use America Online (AOL), Compuserve or Earthlink,
then please try signing up for a free e-mail account with Hotmail or
Yahoo!, and see if you can receive an e-mail there. If even that does not work
(and your welcome e-mail could not be found in the Spam/Junk Mail folder
either) then send an a e-mail to
support@JoyModeling.com,
and we'll try to help. Some of our members have reported a problem with AOL's
mail filters.

Question
2: Why am I having trouble logging in?
Answer: The most common
causes are given below:
-
The firewall software on your computer (such as Zone
Alarm or McAfee Firewall) or the firewall software on your corporate network
may be preventing you from logging in. Sometimes, a combination of AOL and
firewall software can prevent a successful login. Try logging in with a
standalone browser, and with your firewall software turned OFF. Also, remember
to enable the Cookies in your web-browser.
-
The User ID and Password are case sensitive. Please
make sure that the light next to the CAPS LOCK key on your keyboard is OFF, and
try to log in again.
-
Your fixed-term paid membership may have already
expired (or your credit card or checking account payment may have been declined
on your recurring membership).
-
Your membership may have been canceled due to
password sharing, posting of pornographic or obscene content, spamming, or any
other violation of this web-site's
Terms and Conditions.
If you have tried everything at your end to remedy
the situation (Firewall Off, Cookies enabled, Caps-Lock Off), and are
a legitimate customer, then please send an email to
support@JoyModeling.com,
and we'll be glad to help. Please include your "Transaction Number" and
"Subscription number" (if you are a paid member) and any other relevant
membership details (User ID and password) to help identify your account when
writing to us. In case of a forgotten password, please use the password
retrieval link on the web-site to have your password e-mailed to you
automatically. You will need to provide the e-mail address that you initially
used. Please do not e-mail us to ask for passwords, as we do not release
passwords to anyone.

Question 3:
I forgot my password. How can I retrieve it?
Answer: Use the password retrieval link on the
web-site to have your password e-mailed to you. You will need to provide the
e-mail address that you initially used. Please do not e-mail us to ask for
passwords, as we do not release passwords to anyone.

Question 4:
How can I get my images to be under 73K in size, and still look good?
Answer: We noticed a quirk/bug in PhotoShop® software.
When you go to "Image Size" in Photoshop it might display the pixel size of an
image as being 636K whereas the actual file size may be only 68K. So, an
important thing to remember is to not go by the pixel size (file size) that
Photoshop shows you, as it might lead you to believe that the file is too big
(636K) when it really is very small (only 68K). Always save the file, then view
a directory listing (such as in Windows® Explorer) to get an idea of how big
the file actually is. Then, save it at anywhere from 72 to 125 DPI. Do a "Save
As" in Photoshop, and save it as a "Medium" quality JPEG file (*.JPG), and you
should be fine. You may have to do some further cropping or resizing but saving
as a "Medium" quality *.JPG file at 125 DPI seems to work well for most images.
Make sure that the JPG image is in the RGB mode (not in
CMYK), otherwise it won't display. Any other file formats such as *.GIF, *.BMP,
*.TIF, *.ART, etc., will not work. The file-size limit is higher than 73-K for
paid memberships, so you may not even have to reduce your file's size if you
are a paying member.

Question 5:
What is your policy regarding the posting of sexually explicit or nude images?
Answer: This
particular web-site caters only to talent less than 18 years of age. Therefore,
nudity of any kind (either real or simulated) is absolutely prohibited on this
web-site. Any sexually explicit images or images of an adult or
pornographic nature are not allowed on this web-site. Also, any indecent, lewd,
obscene, scantily clad or vulgar images are not permitted on this
web-site. Please do NOT post any nude, adult or pornographic images under
any circumstances. Lingerie and skimpy or overtly sexy outfits or skimpy
swimsuits are not allowed. Additionally, as a protection against the
exploitation of minors, the posting of swimsuit images of anyone under 16 years
of age is not allowed unless posted by the parent or legal guardian of the
model. Posting of swimsuit images of anyone under 13 years of age is absolutely
prohibited, regardless of who posts them. The posting of any jobs or
work-offers for pornographic ("Adult") assignments is absolutely prohibited on
this web-site. Any porn or "Adult" related postings or messages are also
prohibited in the forums/chat areas. Inviting anyone to pose for nude,
pornographic, indecent or escort service assignments within a Professional
Profile or Portfolio is also prohibited. It is each user's own responsibility
to adhere to this policy in a responsible manner. Do not post your Portfolio
here if you are over 18 years of age. Please visit one of our other
modeling web-sites for grown-ups if you are over 18 years of age, and
would like to post your Portfolio.

Question 6:
Is there a charge for registering? Will I need to have a credit card?
Answer: The basic registration (membership) is free, and does not
require you to give out any credit card, checking account or financial
information. However, certain premium features and functionality are reserved
for paying members only. The basic photoshoot (headshots) in our studio is also
free, but prints and/or images cost extra.

Question 7: Are there any
age restrictions regarding membership or the uploading of images?
Answer: It is a
generally acceptable practice in the modeling and talent industry for teens
aged 13 to 18 years to apply for and/or get hired for legitimate/legal modeling
and entertainment jobs. This particular web-site caters only
to talent less than 18 years of age (please visit one of our other web-sites
for grown-ups to post your Portfolio if you are over 18 years of age). You
may post your profile and/or portfolio on this web-site if you are 13-18
years old, and are posting your Profile/Portfolio under the supervision and
after the approval of your adult parent or legal guardian. If you are under 13
years of age then only an adult parent or legal guardian can post your profile.
Additionally, as a protection against the exploitation of minors, and in
compliance with all legal requirements, the posting of nude, sexy or
scantily clad images of anyone is absolutely not allowed on this web-site,
regardless of age. Swimsuit images of anyone under the age of 16 years are not
allowed, unless posted by the parent or legal guardian of the person in the
image. Swimsuit pictures of anyone under 13 years of age are absolutely
prohibited, regardless of who posts them. Skimpy outfits, lingerie and/or
overtly sexy swimsuits are prohibited. If you are a Photographer,
Videographer, Agency, Stylist/Makeup Artist or are looking to hire the
talent (Browser) then you may become a member even if you are over 18 years of
age.
Note to parents and legal
guardians of models or talent under 18 years of age: Please enter your
own personal contact information (an adult parent's or legal guardian's
information such as phone number, e-mail address, etc.) when setting up the
profile for a person under the age of 13 years so that all referrals and
communication will go through you, the adult parent or legal guardian. Anyone
under 13 years of age should not directly submit any personal or contact
information on this web site. Also, if you are under 18
years of age, you must not submit any credit card, checking account or
financial information on this web-site -- let your adult parent or legal
guardian do that for you. An adult parent or legal guardian who is over 18
years of age must always accompany any underage model to a photoshoot.

Question 8:
Can I post my profile more than once?
Answer: Sorry, only one free Model Profile
per person is allowed is on this system. Similarly, only one
free Professional Profile per professional or company is allowed. Multiple
free postings with a view to generating more exposure will constitute an
unacceptable use of the system. The only exceptions to this rule are that a
photographer or agent may post the pictures of multiple models that he/she may
represent (in addition to his/her own Professional Profile), and if you are a
paying member then you may purchase a subscription level that allows you
to list your profile under more than one state simultaneously. Sharing of
passwords is not allowed.

|
Question 9:
How can I delete (remove) my own Profile/Portfolio entirely?
Answer: If you wish to delete your own
profile completely (either a free membership or a paid membership), then just
edit it, and enter the word "Delete" (without the quote marks) for your First
Name, and also enter the same word "Delete" as your Last Name, and save your
changes (do this only once, and then don't update your profile again so that
we'll know the exact date when it was first done. If you do this more than once
then the edit-date will change, as the system will remember only the last date
when the record was edited). Your Profile will get deleted as a part of the
next scheduled system maintenance which usually occurs once every thirty to
sixty (30-60) days, and will no longer be visible online. Please note that
deleting a Profile/Portfolio is not the same as cancelling a membership (see
cancellation policy below).

Question 11:
What is your privacy and confidentiality policy?
Answer: We respect your privacy. The personal information that we
collect from you is for internal company use only, and will not be sold to any
other company. We will not use your e-mail address to send you spam
(unsolicited commercial junk e-mail). However, by registering (signing up) on
this web site you are giving the operators of this web-site permission
to e-mail you special promotions, feature updates, sales offers and an
industry Newsletter from time to time. Each promotional e-mail (commercial or
sales offer) will contain Opt-out instructions, and you will be able to opt out
easily at any time. However, we (the operators of this web-site) reserve the
right to send you important system related, service related, and/or new feature
and account-related messages from time to time for as long as you remain a
member. Such service, new feature and account-management e-mails are necessary
for the proper operation and maintenance of your account, and cannot be opted
out of for as long as you have a valid account, Profile or Portfolio on this
web-site. Once you delete your Account/Profile/Portfolio completely, we won't
send you any more e-mails. Y our e-mail address is not
displayed online as a part of your profile, but other users can still send an
initial message to you without knowing your e-mail address by using the
anonymous e-mailing features built into this site. However, once you send a
referral to anyone or respond to a referral, then the other party will come to
know of your direct e-mail address. If you voluntarily disclose any personal
information in your viewable profile online or in a chat or forum then that
information can be collected and used by others and can also result in
unsolicited third party messages being sent to you. Please be careful about who
you share your personal information with online because only you are
responsible and liable for your own safety and well being. Of course, you may
also receive e-mails from the other users of this web site who access your
profile or portfolio from time to time. You can read our complete
Privacy Policy here.

Question 12:
What is your cancellation or refund policy? How can I cancel my paid
membership?
Answer: All one-time (fixed-term, non-recurring) memberships are
non-cancelable and non-refundable. No refund or credit will be issued for
any unused portion of a one-time (fixed-term, non-recurring) membership.
If you signed
up for a one-time (fixed term, non-recurring) membership then your membership
will expire automatically at the end of its initial term, your card or checking
account will not be billed/charged again, and you don't need to write
to anyone asking to cancel it. If you signed up for a paid recurring
membership, and notify us of your intent to cancel prior to its 30-day renewal
date, you will not be billed again. The first (initial) payment of a
recurring membership is non-refundable and non-cancelable, and renewals occur
once every thirty (30) days. To cancel your recurring membership you
must send an e-mail to support@modelselection.com
and include your Name, Member ID, and the full Transaction information that we
sent to you in your initial payment confirmation when you first signed up as a
recurring-payment member (please do NOT contact your own bank or credit card
company to dispute the charges as it will cause further confusion, and they
will refer you back to us anyway). Please allow us up to 72 hours to
respond to your e-mail. Please do not call your credit card company to initiate
a chargeback or to dispute the charges (they will refer you back to us
anyway), and it might further delay matters if you don't go through us first.
All Product
sales are final. No refunds, returns, exchanges or substitutions on products.
Lingerie and intimate apparel is non-returnable for reasons of health and
hygiene. Only defective merchandise will be replaced with similar merchandise
of equal value if a claim is made within thirty (30) days of the initial
purchase. The customer agrees to ship the defective product(s) back to
JoyOfModeling.com / Model Selection LLC, in its original packaging, freight
prepaid by customer, but only after obtaining a valid Return Authorization
Number (RAN) from JoyOfModeling.com / Model Selection, LLC. Goods returned
without a valid RAN will be returned to the sender. Any product shipments
returned as unclaimed or undeliverable will incur the regular shipping and
handling charge as appropriate, and a fifteen percent (15%) restocking fee. The
credit card descriptor (merchant's name) will read as "Model Selection, LLC".

Question 13:
My web browser flashes a large sized image then automatically resizes (reduces)
it. Why?
Answer: At times, your web browser may flash a large sized image on your
monitor momentarily, then automatically resize it to a much smaller image. What
can you do to see the larger image? Just hover your mouse in the bottom right
corner of the image for a few seconds (don't click yet, just hover). A small
box with four tiny arrows on the corners will appear (newer version of
MS-Internet Explorer®). Now, Click on that box, and the image will expand to
its full size. To force your browser to not resize images at all (and to be
able to see the larger version at all times), do the following:
Start (open) your browser (such as a newer version of MS-Internet Explorer®).
Then Click on "Tools", then "Internet Options", then "Advanced". Scroll down to
"Multimedia". Uncheck the box next to "Enable Automatic Image Resizing". Then
click on "Apply" and "OK" to save. From now on, the large images will all
appear at their actual size by default without you having to resize each image
each time. Click on "Refresh" to reload the page if necessary.

Question 14:
The image is messed up (too large or too small). What's wrong?
Answer: Sometimes, an image may display as too big (there is a full
blown, large sized image where the thumbnail is supposed to be) or vice versa
(small, thumbnail image where the large one should have been). This error was
most probably caused by the firewall software on your computer (such as Zone
Alarm or McAfee Firewall) or the firewall software on your corporate network.
Try accessing the page again (and refresh/reload) it after temporarily turning
off your firewall software. It that does not work, then please report this to
support@JoyModeling.com. However, what may appear to be an image
problem at first glance may actually be just a firewall issue. Also, please
make sure that the Cookies are enabled in your web-browser.

Question 15:
The pictures or video are too dark (or too bright). What should I do?
Answer: If the picture appears to be too bright or too dark on your
computer, then please adjust the brightness or contrast on your own monitor.
Macintosh® users may want to change the "Gamma" settings on your monitor to
simulate an IBM® compatible PC.

Question 16:
Why are the pictures fuzzy (I am using AOL or Compuserve)?
Answer: Remove the graphics compression, and the pictures will display
just fine. Remember to save your changes, clear your disk cache and
refresh/reload the page. Use the following guidelines to remove the graphics
compression: AOL's newer versions:
Click on "Settings", then click on "Preferences" then on "Internet Properties
(WWW)", then on the "Web Graphics" Tab. Select the "Never Compress Graphics"
option. AOL's older versions:
It is a somewhat similar process on the older versions of AOL too but the menus
may be a bit different, and you will have to uncheck the "Use Compressed
Graphics" box. CompuServe Users:
Uncheck the box that reads "Allow File Compression" (meaning, that you should
not allow file compression). Click on "Access", "Preferences", "WWW", "Web
graphics" and uncheck the "Allow File Compression" box. The menus may work
differently depending on which edition of the software you are using, but you
should be able to figure it out easily.
Remember to save your changes, clear your disk cache and reload the
page. The graphics will now display in true photo quality.

Question 17:
I am receiving a "Page Unavailable" error. What should I do?
Answer: The error was most probably caused by the firewall software on
your computer (such as Zone Alarm or McAfee Firewall) or the firewall software
on your corporate network. Also, the Cookies must be enabled in your
web-browser. Try accessing the page again after temporarily turning off your
firewall software and enabling the Cookies. You may also occasionally receive
that error if the web server is overloaded or too busy. In that case, please
try again after a few minutes. If all of these steps do not work, then please
report a broken link to support@JoyModeling.com.
However, what may appear to be a broken link at first glance may actually be
either just a firewall issue or the server being too busy, or the cookies being
off/disabled.

Answer: The company name (descriptor) on
your Credit Card or Bank Statement will be "Model Selection, LLC" or
something closely resembling it.

|
Question 19:
Will my membership auto-renew, and my card be charged again?
Answer: Whether or not the membership
will renew automatically depends on whether you chose a recurring
membership (automatic renewal) or a one-time/fixed term (non-recurring)
membership when you signed up initially.

Question 20:
Can I hyperlink (not hotlink) to your site?
Answer: We probably won't mind it if you give us a hyperlink or
banner on your site to send us traffic for any legitimate and lawful purpose as
long as it does not violate our copyrights or our Terms and
Conditions or hurt our revenue in any way, but we would still
appreciate it if you please let us know before you place the link by sending an
email to support@JoyModeling.com.
If you wish to provide a link from another web site to this modeling site, then
that link must always point to the main (welcome) page of this site, and not
directly to your profile, portfolio or any other page. You may also use the
"Add a Link" feature of this site to exchange links with us (reciprocal link
exchange). Please see the next answer on hotlinking too.

|
|
Question 21:
Can I hotlink to (steal the bandwidth of) your site?
Answer: Hotlinking is different from hyperlinking (please see the
previous answer too). Hotlinking (programming this web site's images to appear
on another web site so that JoyModeling.com ends up paying for the bandwidth
while the images display on some other site) will constitute a theft of
bandwidth, and is not allowed. It may also be illegal, and anyone found
engaging in any such activity will be held responsible for financial and other
damages. Any direct linking to JoyModeling.com's images or profiles from other
sites, copying or extracting the content from this web site to appear or mirror
on any other site, using stealth methods, hidden frames, computer code or
programs to artificially increase the page view counts are not allowed.

Question 22:
Is it legal to post your images in UseNet groups or on other sites?
Answer: No. The site design, layout, text, graphics, compilations,
computer source code, database structures, *.htm files, ASP files, scripts,
CGI/PERL files, .NET files, SQL files, VB/C/C++/C# files, legal documentation
(Terms and Conditions), Frequently Asked Questions and their Answers (FAQ's),
etc., on this site are all copyrighted, and protected under federal and
international laws, treaties and regulations. Copyright © 1996-2004 (and
onwards), Model Selection, LLC. All Rights Reserved. The individual images may
be copyrighted by their respective owners or photographers. If multiple
document or image files are joined or merged together to form a new file or

original copyright holder(s). Any image alteration, document alteration,
duplication, fraudulent copyright notices, removal of copyright notices,
stealing of source code, stealing of text based documents (FAQ's, Terms and
Conditions, etc.) or posting in UseNet groups, News Groups, other
web-sites or anywhere else without the explicit, prior written permission of
Model Selection, LLC, and/or the original copyright holder will constitute a
copyright violation, punishable as a criminal offense by fines and/or jail
terms. Please don't do it. It is not worth going to jail for. Violators will be
prosecuted to the full extent of the law. We'll cooperate fully with any law
enforcement agencies to help them investigate any copyright violations.

Question 23:
Is it safe for me to respond to other members' e-mails or job offers?
Answer: We can't really say, because there are all kinds of people
out there. Please use your own good judgment, and exercise all necessary
caution in responding to e-mails and/or in accepting or responding to any
offers posted by the users of this or any other web site. You and/or your
parents and legal guardians are responsible for your own safety, well-being and
proper legal conduct. Ask for, and do check references. Meet in a brightly lit,
safe, public place with lots of people around, and always have an
adult accompany you. Let others know where you are going, and who you will
be meeting. Be wary of anyone who does not want to give you a verifiable
call-back phone number or who can't provide verifiable references. Always take
an escort or chaperone to the shoot. The owners and/or operators of this

loss, injury, harm, damage or any direct, indirect, consequential, incidental,
special, punitive, financial or other damages arising out of your access or use
or inability to access or use the services and/or information on this web site
or as a result of any action taken or not taken based on the information

Question 34:
What is the difference between a Profile and a Portfolio?
Answer: The prelimimary search results which show up after a search are
Profiles (many different members' Profiles may show up on the same page).
However, when you click on the main image of a Profile then it opens up a
detailed Portfolio for just one specific member. Think of Profile as a brief or
summary Portfolio.

Question 35:
How can I get featured as a Model on the Welcome Page (massive exposure)?
Answer: To be eligible for being featured as a model on the Welcome Page
(and the opportunity to receive significant additional exposure), you must be a
Paid member. All members (both free and paid members) can vote for a model of
their choice every week, but each member can vote only once during a week. The
contest runs weekly from Sunday thru Saturday, with the winners being posted on
the Welcome Page late every Saturday evening. In case of a tie or an
inappropriate image being selected which does not really deserve to be on the
Welcome Page, the final decision regarding the winning image(s) will rest
solely with the staff of JoyModeling.com and/or Model Selection, LLC. Our staff
reserves the right to select any model to be featured anywhere on
this web-site at any time at its own/sole discretion.

Question 36:
How can I vote for my favorite model (or, Why can't I find the Vote button)?
Answer: To be eligible for being featured as a model on the Welcome Page
(and the opportunity to receive significant additional exposure), the model
must be a Paid member (free members are not eligible, but our staff reserves
the right to make an exception, and select a model to be featured at
its own/sole discretion at any time). You can identify a Paid Member by the
circular "G" for Gold in their Profile. All members (both free and paid
members) can vote for a model of their choice every week, but each member can
vote only once during a week. The "Vote" button is located just below each
Model's main picture in their main Portfolio (not in their summary Profile, but
in the detailed Portfolio). You must be logged in as a member (either Free or
Paid member, but logged in nevertheless) before you can vote. The contest runs
weekly from Sunday thru Saturday, with the winners being posted on the Welcome
Page late every Saturday night. Once you have cast your vote, the "Vote" button
will disappear, then automatically reappear the following week -- and the
contest starts all over again.

Question 40:
What e-mail address should I use when upgrading to a Paid Membership?
Answer: When you upgrade from a Free Membership to a Paid Membership
please enter the same exact e-mail address that you currently use as a Free
Member. Our system uses the e-mail address to identify your record. If it finds
your e-mail address in the database, it will upgrade your present record, and
you will get to continue to use your current Portfolio. Otherwise, if you enter
a different e-mail address when upgrading, the system will create a new record
from you, and you'll need to create your Portfolio all over again.

Question 43:
Why is there redundant (blank/white) space around my picture?
Answer: Sometimes, you'll see a redundant white space (usually on two
sides of your picture), with the picture tucked away to the side or in one
corner of that white space. This happens when the "canvas size" is larger than
the actual "image size", and what you are seeing is the white canvas (or
background) that your photo editing software saved along with the image. Please
use the cropping tool in your photo editing software to crop out just the
"image area", and drop out the white background. Then save that new (cropped)
image and upload it. If you are unable to crop the picture, then please at
least center it on your canvas so that the white background will show evenly
all around. For further help, please consult your scanner's or image
manipulation software's User Manual.

Question 44:
I don't have a Banner (for placing a Banner Ad), what can I do?
Answer: If you don't have a Banner, you may try to design one yourself, using an industry-standard
Graphics Program (such as Adobe PhotoShop® or Flash®). We can design a Banner Ad for you too. The other
possibility is to create a Banner online, using services such as Crecon.com's Banner Generator and
AdDesigner.com

Question 45:
I am unable to see an Image-Preview in MS-Internet Explorer® 7.0. How can I enable it?
Answer: If you have recently upgraded to MS-Internet Explorer 7.0 (IE7), you have probably noticed that the image upload page is not showing a preview of the image you wish to upload. You can fix it as follows:
1. In IE7, in the Tools menu - select the "Internet Options" menu item.
2. Click on the "Security" tab at the top.
3. You will see 4 icons - click on the green check mark that says "Trusted sites".
4. Click on the "Sites" button underneath the icons. A new window will appear.
5. Type "http://www.joyofmodeling.com/" -- without the quote marks, into the top text field (for the Grown-ups site).
6. Click "Add".
7. Then type "http://www.joymodeling.com/" -- without the quote marks, into the top text field (for the Teen site).
8. Click "Add".
9. Uncheck the checkbox at the bottom that says "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" if it is not already unchecked.
10. Click "Close".
What you just did was to add Joy Of Modeling's URLs to IE7's trusted sites, which will allow it to display a preview of the files you want to upload. Close your web-browser and re-start it. When you login, the status bar at the bottom will say "Trusted sites", and you will know it worked, because now the image-preview of the file that you wish to upload will start showing up again. Our site is a clean site, and does not contain any viruses, malicious code or spyware. Adding it to your trusted sites will not harm your computer.
